Make it Colourful Challenge #18

Hi again!  I am back with a second post today.  If you are looking for my DoveArt Blog Hop post, please click here or scroll down one post. I am back now with my DT post for the new Make it Colourful Challenge.  The challenge for this month is "color on Kraft with pink".  You can use any coloring medium you'd like, but you must color on Kraft paper.  If you haven't done this before, it's a great chance to try something new!  I had only tried coloring on Kraft once before, so it was something different for me, too.  As always, the fabulous Make it Crafty DT has plenty of amazing inspiration for you on the Make it Colourful blog.

Here is my card:

My card base and mats are SU Primrose Petals and the patterned papers are from the Authentique Uncommon 6x6 pad.  The sweet image is Penny In Love, one of the newly-released Love Collection from Make it Crafty.  I colored her on Kraft with Prismacolor Pencils.  I definitely need more practice with this technique, but trying something new is what these challenges are all about!  The chipboard sentiment is from the Doodle Love Words Chipboard set, also new from Make it Crafty.  A simple bow finished my card.

Here is a close-up of the colored image:

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to visit the Make it Colourful Challenge blog and check out the outstanding creations from the rest of the DT!  We hope you will join in on the challenge.  There is a special album set up in the Make it Crafty store photo gallery just for challenge entries.  Can't wait to see what you create!

I am entering my card in the following challenges:
Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 #43 (sketch)
Cute Card Thursday #359 (crazy in love)
Fab 'n Funky Challenge #245 (hearts and/or flowers; I used hearts)
Crafting For All Season #95 (have a heart)

Have a great day!  I'll be back shortly with my Sketch Saturday DT post, my last for the day!

Make it Crafty In Bloom Blog Hop

Hi again!  I am back as promised with a very special post!  Today, the Make it Crafty Design Team and some special guests are having a blog hop to share a new release of beautifully illustrated flower stamps from Make it Crafty! They are intricate and delicate, with lots of detail.  They are perfect for coloring and will be your new go-to sets for so many occasions!  These gorgeous flowers images are available in both digital and rubber.  Each rubber stamp version also comes with hand-written sentiments.  Of course, the sentiments all work well with any of the flowers!  Awesome, right?

The release of these beautiful flowers also coincides with the start of the January Make it Colourful Challenge.  The challenge this month is to achieve a watercolor effect.  You can do this by actually watercoloring or by getting the same effect using your markers.  As always, there are lots of resources and plenty of inspiration on the Make it Colourful blog.

Let's get on to the hop, shall we? You should have arrived here from Nicoletta's amazing blog.  If not, you'll definitely want to start back at Andrea's blog and hop from there so you don't miss a single, gorgeous creation!

Here is my project for the hop:

I have used the beautiful Birthday Daisies rubber stamp set.  I actually watercolored them using Distress Inks and an Aqua Brush.  It certainly was a challenge for me!  I am used to being able to blend and layer the colors with my Copics and this is a little trickier and requires more patience, for sure!  I stamped the sentiments that came with this set.  I kept the rest of the design of my card very simple so the flowers could take center stage.

Here is a close-up of the colored flowers:

Thanks for stopping by!  Your next stop on the hop is the amazingly-talented, Delphine!  Be sure to leave comments at every stop along the way as there are hidden prizes on some of the blogs.  Don't miss out on the chance to win one of these gorgeous stamp sets!

Here is the entire line-up in case you get lost:

Enjoy the hop and see you soon!

Make it Colourful Challenge #16

Good morning!  Happy Monday and 1st day of December!  Did I really just type that! Time is just zipping by!  Since it's the first of the month, it's time for a new Make it Colourful Challenge.  The challenge for December is "glistening snow and/or ice".  The goal is to achieve the look of sparkling snow and ice using only coloring techniques.  No cheating allowed with glitter pens or the like!  It's definitely a challenge!  As always, there are some fantastic inspiration photos on the blog, as well as amazing projects from the DT to get your creative juices flowing.  Our wonderful guest, Sandy, has also created a video on how she achieved the glistening effect, so be sure to check it all out.

Here is my attempt at glistening snow and ice:

My card base and mats are GKD Aqua Sea and the miscellaneous solid patterned papers are from my stash.  The fun Winter image was created by merging the Icy Lake Pre-made Scene and Brooke Ice Skating, both from Make it Crafty.  I printed the merged image on MiC Blending Card and colored it all with my Copics.  I tried to make the ice and snow look shimmery with the colors I chose.  I'm not sure I was successful, but hopefully the snow and ice at least have some added dimension. I used my Copic airbrush to do the sky and tried to make it look like rays of light were coming through.  I finished off the card with two die cut snowflake corners (using a Memory Box die) and a few punched snowflakes with gems in the centers.

Here is a close-up of the colored scene:

Copic Colors:
Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R20
Hair: E50, E53, E57, YR 31
Leggings: BV00, BV,04, BV13, BV17
Sweater, hat and leg warmers: BG10, BG11, BG45, BG53, BG57
Scarf and mittens: YG01, YG03, YG25, YG17, YG67
Ice: C1, E30, B32, BG93, BV00
Snow: C1, B000, BG10, E30, BV00
Wood: E31, E35, E57, E79

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to visit the Make it Colourful Challenge blog and check out the fabulous inspiration for the new challenge!  We hope you will play along!  There is a new album set up in the Make it Crafty store photo gallery for your entries.

I am entering my card in the following challenges:
Seems A Little Sketchy #79 (sketch)
Fab 'n Funky Challenge #239 (diecuts)
Card Mania Challenge #61 (favorite color combo; mine is blue, green and purple)

November Make it Colourful Challenge

Good morning!  Happy (early) Saturday and 1st of November!  Hope you had fun last night if you were celebrating Halloween and hope your weekend is off to a great start!  I'm not up yet, but I am hoping for a nice, quiet weekend once I am up.  Right now, I am here because it's time for the new Make it Colourful Challenge.  We've got a fun one for you this month!  The challenge is to color any Make it Crafty Christmas image in 15 minutes or less.  Sounds too easy?  Wait until you try it!  And no cheating!  The DT all set timers and recorded our times.  Some of the more technically-savvy DTs (not me!) even did videos of their speed coloring!  There is lots of inspiration on the Make it Colourful Challenge blog.  So go pick yourself a fun MiC Christmas image, start your stopwatches and color away!

Here is my card, made with the image I colored in less than 15 minutes (14.5 to be exact):

My card base and mats are SU Cherry Cobbler and the patterned papers are from the Teresa Collins Santa's List 6x6 pad.  The fun image is Jolly Santa from Make it Crafty.  I colored him super quickly with my Copics.  I picked this cool dude because the line image already has lots of shading to follow.  The sentiment is from Create With TLC.  A triple-loop seam binding bow and a holiday sparkler finished my quick and easy card to go along with the quick coloring!

Here is a close-up of the colored image:

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to visit the Make it Colourful Challenge and check out the fab projects from the rest of the DT!  You won't believe they've all been colored in less than 15 minutes, but they truly have been.  We hope you will play along this month!

Have a great day and see you soon!

Make it Colourful Challenge #14

Good morning!  Happy Wednesday and 1st of October! Hope you are having a good week so far! I haven't had much time for crafting yet, but hope to remedy that situation a little later today.  Right now, I am here with my DT post for the new Make it Colourful Challenge.  As you know, we have only one challenge a month now and it will always be something to get you creating outside of your normal boundaries.  No more easy peasy challenges!  The challenge for this month is to color only with ball point pens (or another medium you are completely unfamiliar with)!  Crazy, right?  I know that's what I thought when I first saw the challenge! As always, there are some great resources on the Make it Colourful blog and lots of amazing inspiration from the DT to get you started, so go ahead and give it a go!

Here is my project.  Now, mine is definitely not so amazing!  In fact, I really struggled with this one for a few reasons.  First, it's just hard!  Second, I only had a few colors of pens to work with, yet I picked an image that would have required a few more, for sure. I'll know for next time. Lastly, I don't think I used the right paper to get a good blending effect.  All that said, it was fun and challenging and in the end, I was happy that I at least gave it a try!

The image I chose is Tropical Waterfall from Make it Crafty.  I printed it on Make it Colour Blending Card and colored it entirely with ball point pens.  I used a pack of Staedtler pens that I got at Staples, but you can use any brand and you don't need a lot of colors, depending on the image you select.  I used the cross-hatch method for the coloring.  There are links to some great videos on the technique on the blog.  Be prepared to wipe the nib of your pen frequently to get clean lines.   I could have done that a little more, I think.

Anyway, there you have it!  My first attempt at coloring with ball point pens!  Be sure to go check out what the rest of the amazingly-talented MiC DT did.  You are sure to be inspired!  We hope you will join in on the challenge!  There will be a special album set up for your entries in the Make it Crafty store photo gallery.

Have a great day and see you soon!

Weigh To Go!

Good morning!  Happy Saturday! Hope your weekend is off to a great start!  It's still very early here, but it's afternoon in Australia and I am here to share some Make it Crafty DT inspiration with you.  My card is also for the current Through the Craft Room Door Challenge that is being sponsored by Make it Crafty.  You have a chance to win a $10 GC to the Make it Crafty store, so that's incentive enough to join a challenge, don't you think?

Here is my card:

My card base and mats are SU Pretty in Pink and the glittery patterned papers are from the Best Creations, Inc. Cupcake 6x6 pack.  The fun image is Kimberly Healthy Eating from Make it Crafty.  I printed her on MiC Blending Card and colored her with my Copics.  I added some Glossy Accents to the apple and the cherry on top of the cupcake.  The sentiment is from Create With TLC.  A glossy 3-D apple sticker finished my card.

Here is a close-up of the colored image:

Make it Colourful Challenge #13

Good morning (afternoon in Australia)!  Happy Monday!  Hope you've had a great weekend so far.  If you are in the U.S. like I am, I hope you are enjoying a long Labor Day weekend!  We've been very busy and I haven't had much time for my crafting and blogging, but I will be back on track on Tuesday, for sure.  Right now, I am here with my DT post for the new Make it Colourful Challenge.  Just like last month, and from now on, there is just one hard challenge each month and our wonderful Zoe is really challenging us all to step outside our comfort zone and try new things!  This month's challenge theme is "two-tone monochromatic with an abstract background".  There are some fantastic examples over on the Make it Colourful blog, so be sure to check them out and then have a go at it yourself!

Here is my take on the challenge:

My card base and mats are SU Not Quite Navy and the patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Oxford collection.  The image is Anastasia from Make it Crafty.  I printed her on MiC Blending Card and colored in two color families with my Copics.  It was a little scary doing the skin in these tones! The abstract background was created by dabbing on some of the colors using Copic refills on a cotton ball, then dripping a little Colorless Blender onto the background to make it more diffuse.  I could definitely use some practice, but I didn't think it was too bad for a first try.  I kept the rest of the card design very simple, just adding some two-tone ribbon in the same colors and a few pearls from my stash.

Here is a close-up of the image:

Copics colors:
Blues: B000, B91, B93, B95, B97, B99
Greens: YG000, YG01, YG03, YG17, YG25, YG67, G99

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to visit the Make it Colourful Challenge blog and check out the fabulous inspiration for the challenge.  There will be a special album set up in the store photo gallery for your entries.  You can also share your progress in the Make it Crafty Facebook group.  There is always lots of fun and encouragement over there, so hope you will come on by!

Have a great day and see you soon!

You're Such A Loser

Good morning!  Happy Tuesday!  Hope your week is off to a great start!  It's been very hot here, but we can't complain since there haven't been any strong storms attached!  Knock wood it stays that way!  I am popping in this morning to share some Make it Crafty inspiration with you!  Have you seen the fabulous new digi collection?  It's called Let's Get Active.  In this collection, we meet Kimberly and Brian, who are intent on getting themselves fit!  The new digis are so much fun and I know I, for one, can definitely relate to their plight!  I decided to have a play with the new stamps.

Here is my card:

My card base and mats are GKD Smoky Slate and the patterned papers are from the Glitz Designs All Dolled Up 6x6 pad.  I've used the fun Kimberly Weigh Scales and colored her up with my Copics.  I added a bit of Glossy accents to the top of the scale and some doodling around the image.  The sentiment is from Create With TLC.  I didn't add any other embellishments to my CAS card.  I think this will be perfect for a friend who is working super hard on her fitness program.

Here is a close-up of the image:

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check out this fun new release from Make it Crafty!  Come over and join in the Make it Crafty Facebook Group.  There is always lots of inspiration and fun and friendly chat, too! Hope to see you there!

Make it Colourful Challenge #12 - Atmospheric Perspective

Good morning!  Happy Friday!  Hope you've had a great week and you have fun plans for the weekend!  It's been another busy week for me, but I am hoping for some extra time over the weekend.  It is supposed to rain here, so that is a good excuse for staying in and heading to my craft room.  Let's hope it works out that way!  Anyway, I am here with something very cool today!  First, I am excited to tell you that the lovely Zoe invited me to be part of the Make it Crafty Inspiration DT!  I am so excited and honored and scared witless, all at the same time!  These ladies have some seriously amazing coloring skills! I hope to learn a lot from them.  Just seeing their projects is so inspiring!

On to my post. The new Make it Colourful Challenge started today and there is something different starting this month.  No more "easy challenge".  Nope.  As Zoe says, you've got to put on your big girl panties and go for the hard challenge!   It may seem scary at first, but there are lots of resources for the challenge provided on the blog and also lots of inspiration from the team. We sure hope you will give it a go!

This month's challenge is "atmospheric perspective".  I won't go into the details of what that means because there are several great videos and examples on the blog, but briefly, atmospheric perspective refers to the hazy look of objects that are off in the distance.  Far away objects tend to fade, lose their detail and become "cooler" in color. This is the effect we were going for.  Definitely not an easy task, I can tell you!

Here is my project:

I started with the Hidden Forest Digi Stamp from Make it Crafty for my scene.  I lightened the lines in the far background using the technique Zoe shared in the Make it Crafty FB group.  I wanted those trees to appear hazy and far in the distance compared to the warmer colors and finer details in the foreground. Everything was colored with my Copics. I then colored up Miss Hood, also from Make it Crafty, in vibrant colors and popped her right in front in the scene.

I hope I at least came close to achieving the effect. It was definitely a big challenge for me! Head on over and check out the fabulous projects from the rest of the team! We hope you'll join in on the August Make it Colourful challenge! You have a whole month to enter and all the details are on the blog.   We can't wait to see your atmospheric perspective projects!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
