Good morning! Happy Friday! Hope you had a great week and you have fun plans for the weekend! We are still having very hot and humid weather here, so most of the weekend's activities will likely be indoors in the AC! I am here this morning with a very special post. Today the Little Misses are coming together to support a very special young lady. Cassandra is the 11-year-old daughter of Barbara, owner of, and illustrator for,
Little Miss Muffet Stamps. Barbara has shared about Cassandra on the
Little Miss Muffet blog today, so be sure to stop by to read her touching story.
Cassandra was born deaf. She currently attends public school, but because of her diminished hearing, she often has difficulty understanding everything that is going on around her in a busy classroom. Cassandra has asked for the school to provide her with real-time captioning (RTC). RTC is where a captionist would type what is spoken in class and display it on a tablet so Cassandra could read the information she may have missed. Without it, she struggles every day to try and guess at the meaning of half-heard words and sentences. So far, she has been denied access to this valuable resource.
Our special event today is to raise awareness and spread the word about Cassandra's request. You can read more about her story
HERE and you can also sign the petition to grant her access to RTC
HERE. For each signature on the petition, the school administrators receive an e-mail regarding the request. We want to help Barbara fill their inboxes!
To support the petition and Cassandra,
Little Miss Muffet Stamps has released a dozen new images. One of these images,
Polka Dot Pals Rosalie, will be available as a freebie in the
Little Miss Muffet store. You won't want to miss out on that! Most importantly, we want to spread the word and get lots of support for Cassandra! We hope you can help.
Now for my card for Cassandra:
My card base and mats are SU Rose Red and the patterned papers are from the Webster's Pages Plum Seed collection. The adorable new image is
Jr. Hatter Millie. I have colored her with my Copics. The sentiment is from
Create With TLC. The banner was created with the
Party Banner Metal Die from
Little Miss Muffet Stamps. A couple of wooden butterflies and a Wild Orchid Crafts daisy finished my card.
Here is a close-up of the colored image:
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to visit the
Little Miss Muffet blog and read all about Cassandra and check out the gorgeous projects from the rest of the Little Misses! Don't forget to pop over to the
store and pick up your freebie and most importantly, please sign the petition to help Cassandra get RTC.
One last thing, if you wish to send words of support and encouragement directly to Cassandra, you can send to this address:
